Checklist Configuration of Browsers for Work Devices
From November 2020, we recommend that all our clients migrate to Palemoon as soon as possible by following these instructions: Download and install Palemoon for POS and SPACES and install the shortcut icon on your Windows desktop.- Disable DNS or "Enable Secure Connections" in your browser. See: https://help.novohit.com/portal/en/kb/articles/dns-lan-configuration-on-workstations. The browser must use your router's native DNS and there must be no third-party VPNs (not installed/coordinated by Novohit).
- Enable popups (i.e. do not block them). To enable popups follow these instructions.
- Enable the registration and use of cookies for Novohit. If you do not know how to do this setting, enable cookies completely. Instructions
- Enable it as default browser in Windows, or install a link browser selector, for example BrowserSelect (for Windows) or Bumpr (for Mac) and set the Novohit URL to always open everything related to Novohit in Firefox.
Enable PDF reading mode in the browser with Drill Down function. For more details, see these instructions.
- Optional: You can enable an add-on to clear the cache with a button, we recommend this add-on and secure it for Firefox.
Configure the home page to log in to Novohit by following these instructions.
Add the Novohit address to Favorites and activate the Favorites bar by following these instructions. To configure to show or hide the bookmarks bar, see these instructions.
Create shortcuts on the desktop or main screen of your device by following these instructions.
Configure Firefox not to save form entries (instructions). Or, set the history to be cleared whenever the browser is closed (Options > Privacy > Manual Settings > Clear history when Firefox Closes).
Optional: In the Tabs section, select the option "When a link opens in a new tab, switch to it directly." This may be useful in some cases and depends on the user's preferences.
If your browser is not in your language, you can change the default browser language by following these instructions.
Install the Spanish dictionary: (Spanish), for more information about the Firefox spell checker click here.
Do not install any plugins or add-ons outside of those mentioned or that are not strictly for work. Game add-ons, movie add-ons or "browser bars" are potential security problems (data theft) and performance problems (browser slowness or difficulties to work).
