The following document contains technical details of the recommended hardware for Novohit.

Hardware for Novohit POS - Touch Screen Equipment for Point of Sales

Hardware for touch screen equipment must comply with the above-mentioned hardware requirements and the software requirements mentioned in the following section.
Always use equipment designed exclusively for the operation of Retail or Restaurant businesses, of recognized and certified brands within the standards of the line of business. Examples of brands are ELO, Bematech,HP or Microsoft Surface Tables.

You can also acquire the NOVOHIT POS TOUCH (Novohit Touch hardware certified with specialized high-end components and high performance).
The touch screen equipment can be "All-in-one touch" or a touch screen monitor connected to a CPU that meets the requirements mentioned in this document.
The characteristics of the touch screen monitor must be:
  1. Screen Size Minimum 15" (inches diagonal).
  2. 5-wire resistive touch screen, or capacitive screens.
  3. Touch panel of high resistance and sensitivity, with 2mm of glass.
  4. Robust, modern, resistant and stable base design.
  5. Resistant to contact with objects and humidity.
  6. Power saving mode (Stand by)
Starting in August 2023, Novohit Point of Sale (POSv4) is compatible with Tablet-style mobile devices of at least 11 inches.

Operating Systems for Work Terminals

Windows

Windows Professional versions (not Home Edition), updated, with original licenses, with versions currently maintained according to the official Microsoft Lifecycle for Windows.
Professional grade Antivirus and Antimalware.
Novohit is generally compatible with all browsers for Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10, Windows 11, however for security and compatibility with some Novohit apps such as POSv4, versions currently maintained according to the official Microsoft Lifecycle for Windows are recommended. . Mac

Novohit is generally compatible with all browsers for Mac OS, however for security and compatibility with some Novohit apps such as POSv4, versions currently maintained according to Apple's update and maintenance scheme are recommended. More details at: https://support.apple.com/macos.

Linux

Ubuntu from version 13 onwards.
Linux Mint Cinnamon (latest stable with full codecs).

Mobile Device Compatibility 

Novohit works on all Apple, Android and Windows mobile devices for the officially supported versions of each builder. Deprecated versions are NOT supported by Novohit and their correct operation is not guaranteed.

General Requirements for Mobile Devices and Tablets for Novohit (Including POS Touch v4 Portable)

  1. Minimum screen size 10'' (inches), 11'' recommended, with minimum resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels
  2. It is recommended to use the default browser of each device, in particular Chrome on Android devices (and derivatives) and Safari on iOS devices.

Android

  1. Android: All tablets with Android 12 onwards with at least 8 GB RAM and a minimum 8-core processor.
  2. Zoom or Scaling and Magnification should be disabled in the browser settings in order to take advantage of the nominal resolution of each device. 
    1. Zoom, Scaling on Android: usually found in Settings > Display > Display Zoom and select the minimum possible value.
    2. Accessibility Magnification on Android: usually found in Settings > Accessibility > Magnification and select the minimum possible value or 100%.
  3. If the device allows it, enable Desktop View.

iOS (iPad)

  2. iOS: All iPad devices with iOS 15 and up (limited support for POS Touch v4 Portable, iPad is not recommended for POS Touch v4 Portable at this time). 
  3. Overall Display Zoom in the System Settings must be set to Normal or 100%.
  4. Page Zoom in Safari Settings must be set to 100%. 

Mobile Devices for SPACES 

If you need to use our Spaces Module on Touch devices, we suggest using Microsoft Surface tablet devices and install Palemoon using these instructions.
