Electrical Standards - IT Environment Requirements

Electrical Standards - IT Environment Requirements

These specifications and recommendations will minimize the risk of failure due to infrastructure factors and "THE CLIENT" agrees to adhere to the indications set forth in this document.
Even if you adopt the Cloud, these network and power grid quality guidelines should be a standard in your company.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT

Place where the server where Novohit® will reside will be installed.

We recommend a minimum area of 2.5 square meters, for operation and maintenance of the server, thus avoiding risks of accidental disconnections and facilitating the intervention of service technicians.

Characteristics of the physical environment.
  1. Located in a safe place from theft, unauthorized access, fire, flooding, high static interference.
  2. Away from hazardous areas of operation, or with risk of explosion or fire.
  3. A Type "C" fire extinguisher (or its equivalent depending on the specifications of the country where it is installed), placed in an easily accessible location (generally the best location for fire extinguishers is near the entrance).
  4. The temperature of the server rack environment should be around 20° Celsius (68°F), with +- 3°C variation and humidity between 40% - 60%.
  5. Away from sources of humidity and extreme temperatures.
  6. Out of direct sunlight and heat sources.
  7. With air circulation to cool the main unit.
  8. Due to the heat generation produced by the equipment, it is recommended that an ambient cooling system (air conditioning) be used.
  9. Flat and resistant surface, where the connection cables can be organized in a suitable way.
  10. Shall not be near machinery or equipment that produces vibration or dust in the room.
  11. Under no circumstances should carpeting be used in the room where the server is installed.
  12. In case of requiring remote assistance in which the intervention and/or support of on-site personnel is necessary, a telephone must be installed in the server area.
  13. It is important to restrict access to this area to protect confidential information.
It is the responsibility of the CLIENT to give correct preventive and corrective maintenance to the server equipment.

ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION

The power supply network must be polarized (phase, neutral and earth ground) and must be independent and exclusively for the computer equipment to which no other device (vacuum cleaners, coffee makers, fans, recorders, etc.) should be connected, as this may cause failures due to the interference that these devices generate and cause damage to the equipment.

The earth ground must be only and exclusively for the computer equipment network. The building structure, pipes, etc. should not be taken as earth ground.

All equipment, especially the server and the router/switch, must have a UPS (Uninterruptible power supply - See information in this link) installed.

The electrical network for the work area (all PCs and work terminals) must have its own main switch and it is advisable to zone the installation according to the line load with breakers, the contacts that are placed in the areas must be double polarized with physical ground and must be placed firmly to the wall at a distance of approximately 30 cms. from the floor level, with easy access for the organization and connection of the cables.
